I had the pleasure to create a collection of stunning personal branding images for the founder and CEO of Minute Takers Inc.; Scarlett Guy, to celebrate their 15 years anniversary. So thrilled to see all these beautiful headshots and branding images in action and used throughout their website and social media! We had a great interview and here is what she had to say about her experience and the advice for new entrepreneurs.
Q. Why did you start this business??
During my previous career as a law clerk, I was often asked to take minutes of various client meetings. They liked my work so much that it grew as a side business. As I became increasingly interested in elevating the art of minute-taking as a professional expertise in its own right, I resigned from the law firm and trained some talented people to help me. The company is now 15 years old and has over 40 recording secretaries!
Q. What advice would you give people who are just starting?
The advice I would give to new entrepreneurs is to take advantage of ‘serendipity’… always be aware and open to the opportunities that are constantly coming and going and then, once you believe you’ve found a good fit for yourself, be prepared to work hard, stay positive, and be persistent.
Q. What are you most passionate about?
I am most passionate about identifying and helping to develop the unique talents and strengths that lie within each person. I would characterize myself as an ‘encourager’!
Q: Why did you want photos and how was your experience?
Ever since I founded my company, minuteTakers inc. I was often asked why my photograph was not included on its website. Then when I began writing for a prominent industry magazine, I was being asked for a headshot photo to accompany my articles. When a dear friend of mine showed me a photo of herself that was taken by Sara as part of her ‘50+ and Fabulous’ campaign, I was so impressed with the way my friend’s inner and outer beauty was captured, that I decided it was time to have my own photo taken. Although I was mainly interested in ‘corporate branding’ photos, I also decided to participate in the ‘50+’ campaign and I’m so glad I did! I had done some modelling in my Twenties and it was a wonderful experience to be back in front of such an expert photographer. Sara and her team made me look and feel fabulous, and the atmosphere was relaxed but exhilarating all at the same time. Everything was luxurious and elegant: marvellous wardrobe options, gorgeous jewelry pieces, beautiful lighting, professional hair and makeup, and even sweet strawberries, champagne mimosas and a delicious, light lunch. It was an incredible day that resulted in a wide variety of stunning photos that will be part of my personal legacy for years to come!
